How We Do It

FAR FROM PLANNED OBSOLESCENCE

In a time where most equipment is set to fail, forcing us to seek replacement, where manufacturers promote lucrative interest over commercial pride, we wanted to make something different...

Something we could rely on

Something that would last

Something tough enough we could pass down to future generations

Something most Enduring and truly Canadian to be proud of

We make knives, and this is exactly what we did...

A UNIQUE BLADE MADE BY HAND

All Canada Enduring knife blades are made of the best knife-grade stainless steal to give the blade an incredibly sharp cutting edge that will last.

Your knife blade is individually shaped, bevelled and sharpened by master hands to create its special perfect uniqueness.

At the end of the process, if the blade is deemed worthy of the name, it will be mounted to one of our exclusive handles and will bare the Canada Enduring crest.

A HANDLE FROM THE GREAT CANADIAN OUTDOORS

All Canada Enduring knife handles are made of Chokecherry or Saskatoon wood (depending on resource availability). Both woods carefully harvested in the wild, at the foot of the Canadian Rocky Mountains.

These two beautiful and very hard woods have been used by indigenous populations of Canada for thousands of years to make arrows, tool handles, tipi pegs and in many other applications where durability is required.

To harvest it, we simply use a hand saw; selecting only the trees needed, in a sustainable manner in order to have the least possible impact on the environment and to ensure the resource continues to thrive.

At the base of the Canadian Rocky Mountains, Chokecherry and Saskatoon trees rarely reach more than the size of a small bush. This is due to the very dry climate and the relentless wind in which they must endure. The result is that your knife handle is essentially the size of the tree trunk it comes from. It gives the wood a spectacular grain effect and a very unique look.

You might even see the Heartwood (the centre of the tree) when you look at the end faces of your Canada Enduring knife handle. To make this possible, your knife is built using a rare technique called monobloc construction; one continuous single piece of wood all around. It preserves the amazing integrity of the tree that your handle comes from.

ASSEMBLED TO CREATE THE PERFECT KNIFE

All Canada Enduring knives are meticulously assembled by hand.

Furthermore, all components of the knife are individually made, shaped, and adjusted to fit your unique Canada Enduring knife.

Namely: the locking spring, the pocket clip, the securing band, pins and rivets are all made of exceptional quality stainless steel and brass materials.

During the research and development process, we invented different mechanisms pertaining to the better opening, locking, and unlocking of your Canada Enduring knife, hence its unique look.

Then, something happened while assembling the very first of our CE980 Gabriel Dumont knives...

A define figure appeared on the handle.

In the folded close position, a Great Horned Owl emerged from the silhouette of the knife.

And once this "owl incarnation" appeared... It stayed with all the following knives.

Following research showed that, among many North American indigenous nations, the owl is seen as a mystical creature. A creature of the night, a shape changer, a messenger from another world. CE Knives
