DISCLOSURE ON THE HISTORICAL INFORMATION FOUND ON OUR WEBSITE

Dear readers of our Canadian heritage stories,

First, we will tell you that we are not historians. We are only humble passionate beings about history.

The short stories that you find throughout our website are a summary of the life and highlights of some extraordinary people that were involved in forging what is now Canada. Most times they were not the ones writing down their own story. They were often grotesquely and condescendingly pictured, by the ones doing so. Culture clashes, racism, sexism, religion and incomprehension are only a few reasons. We try to give these figures a voice and to re-examine the history through their eyes.

Professional voyagers, translators, trappers, hunters, Coureur de bois, fur traders... All indigenous, Canadians, Metis, and settlers’ extraordinary beings.

The short writing format, we have to work with, leaves us little space for deep explanation.

To make their account, we had to select a limited number of historical figures. This is just our personal favourites. And it is not because we choose someone over someone else that this person his less important.

A lot of the people we depict, often lived in a time where things, we find now horrible, were widely accepted. We do not caution or excuse those acts in any way. We tried to choose beings that were not known for such. This is also why you may be surprised not to find, here, some names that you would have expected to.

If you are interested about some historical figures found in our stories, we recommend you to push the curiosity and to make your own research.

We need to inform you that we, sometime, use ironic humour. In no way, is it our intention to "make light" of the hard ships endured by these individuals, rather we use humour to help the readability.

Like we said above, we are no historians, and you might find things in those stories that you don't agree with... and that is OK. We respect your point of view.

DISCLOSURE ON THE INFORMATION FOUND IN OUR ARTWORKS

If you look at the historical artworks found on our website and the CANADA Enduring artwork prints, you will find maps drawn in the background sky. Also found on the product boxes.

Those maps are approximate, sometime distorted, and CANADA Enduring encourage you to refrain from using those maps to navigate your way through Canada.

On those maps, you will find territorial, geographical and location names.

We purposely mixed those names through time and space... to give a voice to cultures too often ignored.

You will find places chosen to be called in the local Indigenous Nation language beside French and English places name.

You will sometimes find the original French name where it should be now a different one, changed after the Hudson Bay Company or the North West fur trading Company took over.

Cities, lakes, and rivers renamed with the old Indigenous Nation language of those who lived there long before.

Food for thought...

Once again, the time and space shuffle was done deliberately, and there is no need for you to notify us. Time is relative.
